Our Team

HVAC Commissioning currently employs six staff, making us a medium-sized company fully capable of managing large and sensitive projects.

All commissioning staff at HVAC Commissioning are Site Safe certified and encouraged to join the CSA through their distance learning courses. This ensures correct commissioning practices are embedded while enhancing staff expertise as they progress in their careers. Staff are independently graded by the CSA based on their merits, capabilities, and experience.

Martin Payne

Martin began his commissioning career in the UK in 1991 and brings over 35 years of experience in the building services industry. This includes 20 years as a Commissioning Manager and 15 years as a Commissioning Specialist.

He holds the highest accreditation awarded by the Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) – Grade 6 – a status recognised and endorsed by CIBSE in their Commissioning Management Code (Code M). Martin is also recognised at the CM3 level, the highest grade for a Commissioning Manager, and is currently the only person in New Zealand to hold this distinction.

With considerable expertise in commissioning and in the operation of environmental control equipment, Martin also has exceptional knowledge of wider building services and how they interact across disciplines and modes of operation. His ability to review design drawings and specifications for commissionability ensures design intent is achievable from concept through to installation and final commissioning.
